Reading, paranormal, and random mental and physical ramblings now have their own places. Somewhere along the line, I got distracted and completely forgot I was updating here again. I also apparently got distracted and developed start-itis. Somehow I'm up to 94 in progress on Ravelry (and that's after I removed 3 placeholders and a couple of reference pages that show up in my wips from my count). Oops. So far though, I've finished what I've started on my short term (one month or less for House Cup) projects. The only starts so far unfinished are the long term ones for my OWL and my Mission.

We'll just conveniently ignore the two quilt tops, the stitch-a-day embroidery challenge, and the cross stitch mystery sampler I also seem to have started.

And the doll restorations and customizations.

And the clearance needlepoint canvases I picked up to go with the needlepoint stitch dictionaries I got for Christmas.

Eventually my mind will figure out I'm not able to do things at the speed, intensity, and level I used to, and let me catch up on things, right?

Oops....Jeanninehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00533944116751906660noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4110027014238120492.post-74233510956548841312016-07-04T16:59:00.001-04:002016-07-04T16:59:34.666-04:00Yes, No, MaybeMonth end recap - Got my OWL to 50%

Finished my Headmistress Challenge

Didn't get a previously started item done this month, so that will actually leave me a minimum of two items down by end of July, since it turns out the last clue of the Frida's Flowers blanket is the finishing, which I don't get to count for a House Cup class. Oh well. Still can potentially end up one down from where I started, if I finish everything.

That last bit may be the problem. I think right now that I'm doing all right on that circular shawl for my Order Mission, but I've found in the past that circular shawls are lying liars that lie. You think you're all on track because you're halfway through, then the increase rounds start getting absolutely ridiculous. So, we'll see what happens on that front.

Oh, and I'm a Slytherbird. Got sorted to Thunderbird at Ilvermorny.

OWL handed in for 50% mark, which is actually 3 of the 5 repeats done, basically because I'll either have to make fringe or corner tassels, neither of which process I like. Crochet along still not caught up, but all clues are in hand, and the next one is started so about 2 1/2 left to go by end of the month, plus finish a pair of socks for detention, plus the final clue of the Headmistress challenge, and the shawl.

No problem.

I'm due for insomnia about now anyway.

And the Daily's AND the Gate near me are both 24 hour stores. And I have drink cards with both. So any necessary caffeine consumption is covered, right?

I'm insane, aren't I?Jeanninehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00533944116751906660noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4110027014238120492.post-40745007120806689492016-06-07T13:53:00.000-04:002016-06-07T13:53:29.084-04:00One...

So, out of the four new things I started, one is on track for the month. The cowl is caught up through available clues.

The crocheted blanket is caught up through clue 3, clue 6 is to be released next week.

The knitted blanket is within a just a few days of being at the halfway point it needs to be at for the month.

The small pi shawl...

Let's not talk about that one...Jeanninehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00533944116751906660noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4110027014238120492.post-33250847879218812742016-05-13T10:59:00.001-04:002016-05-13T10:59:56.950-04:00So Far, So Good?Well, out of the four projects I added, after completing the one, (89!89!WTF am I doing!), one at least is on track. I had the blanket CAL for classes, the knitted blanket approved for an OWL that can start any time, and a Pi shawl for my Order mission. Order start date isn't until end of the month, CAL needs to be caught up, and OWL needs to be cast on.

BUT!

My Headmistress Challenge is on track! Clue one is complete! Yay! (maybe?)Jeanninehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00533944116751906660noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4110027014238120492.post-44229265415856600992016-05-10T22:10:00.000-04:002016-05-10T22:10:05.784-04:00Minus One, Plus Four....Oops...So, all the requests and proposals are in for House Cup, and just one is waiting on approval. So the tally stands at 86 existing WIPs, minus one FO, plus 4 new WIPs. Eighty Nine.

Although, in fairness, I'm pretty sure I was up to triple digits at one point. I swear I remember counting "In Progress" on Ravelry into triple digits at one point, I just have no documentation or clear recollection of it.

So...I'm good right? I just need to keep the new projects on track.

Riiiiiight....Jeanninehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00533944116751906660noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4110027014238120492.post-32857300573136344572016-05-05T00:22:00.000-04:002016-05-05T00:22:32.801-04:00Ta-Da!Four months. Over 1100 yards. BUT I made a sweater!

So that should knock me down to 85 WIP's.

Except for that crochet along that I decided to start so I could hand in the blocks for classes for the House Cup term.

And the blanket kit I found, that I'm swatching to do as an OWL for House Cup.

Maybe this is the reason I wound up with 86 WIP's in the first place...Jeanninehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00533944116751906660noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4110027014238120492.post-44402298590794830472016-04-25T00:43:00.002-04:002016-04-25T00:58:14.951-04:00To Knit, perchance to....OWW!So, since I'm insane, and do the whole Knit and Crochet House Cup on Ravelry (Slytherin for Life!), I'm looking at next term's plotting and planning. Obviously, I have plenty of WIP's for Detention. Well, some more ready than others. So, to the work bag, knitknitknit, OK, that sweater is down to 4 rows of neckband, and weaving in of ends, there is a garter stitch shawl that's currently the default mindless knit, and a couple pair of socks that theoretically could make both a class and a Detention project, thanks to the mismatch allowance. Assuming I can knit a pair of socks in a month again. Which might be problematic.

My elbow is angry.

Not sure how or why, or what, but back before Christmas, (hmm, it might have been the push trying to gift knit), I seem to have picked up tendinitis. Or something. It hurts if I knit for too long. Or videogame for too long. Or mop, clean, or use my right arm for too long.

So what am I looking at doing? Hmmmm...that Per Terras shawl I never finished isn't really that far along. You remember, the one that uses a whole cone of Zephyr? I'll never match gauge. I bet if I frogged it, it would make a great OWL project for next term. Even with a restart, technically that's finishing a WIP, right?

This is what happens when your whole body hates you, you're limited on what you can do, and your ambitions have been downgraded to winning imaginary internet points. You convince yourself that it's like some sort of Superbowl quarterback thing, where you should work through it for the glory and the win.

After all, I need to make Lucius proud, right?

'I'll fetch you some coffee while you knit, dear"
Jeanninehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00533944116751906660noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4110027014238120492.post-79074831174465147232016-04-10T20:03:00.002-04:002016-04-10T20:03:32.424-04:00Wow - almost 3 1/2 years? Unfortunately most of it has been fighting for disability, and the exhaustion (physical, mental, and emotional) of going through all that. Don't let anyone tell you it's an easy handout. It took me years, many doctors, and the help of my family and a couple of great lawyers. Even now that I've technically "got it", I'm still filling out papers, answering questions, completing more documentation, coordinating benefits... A friend of mine told me when I got sick that disability would be the hardest I've ever worked. It's true.

And in all that, between the brain fog, the chronic symptoms, the medication side effects, it's hard to focus. It's hard now for me to track and mentally process stuff. That won't keep me from trying though.

Apparently too much trying.

I recently went through my Ravelry projects page, as I'd stumbled on some old bags with WIP's, UFO's, etc. and sorted out what I had listed as "in progress".

I eliminated a few that were obvious placeholders for House Cup projects that had never even been started.

I still had 86.

Eighty Six.

A few of those might be things that aren't actually started - I know I had some placeholders for project/yarn combinations - but still.

Looks like this will be the year of finishing things, and taking up things I have on hand. I've already managed to knit and crochet a little over a mile worth of yarn this year. Actually I've been working mostly from stash on hand for a couple of years now - turns out it wasn't so crazy after all stockpiling stash, supplies, and project ideas, even though I had tons still undone. I had the money but not the time then. Now I have time, but not the money. Or the energy. This is going to be slow going. We'll see what happens...

First, though, I have to try to remember basics, like formatting this thing. Wheee!Jeanninehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00533944116751906660noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4110027014238120492.post-28822349766372902862012-12-09T15:50:00.001-05:002012-12-09T15:50:50.540-05:00Housecleaning!Well, OK, so I *am* house cleaning, but we all know that's code for "I'm looking for something and have no idea what it is, and look what I found". If you have a doll collector in your life, you're in luck. I found some Sekiguchi/Petworks Momoko dolls I got several years ago. As with most Asian ball joint/fashion dolls, they just get harder to find. A couple of these are VERY hard to find, so here's your chance - my ebay listing is here.Jeanninehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00533944116751906660noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4110027014238120492.post-57335582559905040732012-12-09T14:34:00.002-05:002012-12-09T14:34:30.264-05:00Reboot/Sleepy Weasel 2.0 coming soon!!!Jeanninehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00533944116751906660noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4110027014238120492.post-4116634833106411182012-03-11T12:47:00.002-04:002012-03-11T12:47:58.086-04:00I Want My Hour BackDaylight savings can bite me.

That is all.Jeanninehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00533944116751906660noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4110027014238120492.post-30345745223903950152011-12-11T21:35:00.002-05:002011-12-11T21:41:07.966-05:00An appeal for peace, by George TakeiJeanninehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00533944116751906660noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4110027014238120492.post-45513071615071681042011-12-10T14:54:00.002-05:002011-12-10T14:59:28.791-05:00<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhr4BFCQObGeXSjHRmty-yGF-r5Vv521NJi-fYWaDZFQ8zj-ei2t8hctzRsCDtEOLWnmDvXq7qiAScm0Mo9LfMxvKYKo3xADLSg19X5BPYS5khEgEUIZLLMuoWJTZ3NzuO9DvKNu2RTg1sR/s320/HouseCup.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5684590745688102738" />

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 100px; height: 100px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQqdwwIRrXXcDyAF9lL0FLMO0mHXoTwlHK3bmk_p2jGNEjZPoNkCkEgNAzWVthwfEyXZnWBwrv_6uJuWKOtpI6FeeHLcM5VUQKfb36uJfU5yaS2fcdwLJBRzhkwii1V1mrLbR4VNqlpLGQ/s320/slytherindonthate.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5684591053363389762" />

That is all.Jeanninehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00533944116751906660noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4110027014238120492.post-55787699189382472462011-08-20T14:21:00.003-04:002011-08-20T14:32:00.073-04:00I Blame MarvinYikes! Six months?!? Wow.... I can explain, really.

My contracts with AT&T were all expired, so as per their usual, they started offering upgrades and bribes to renew my contracts. After a bit of consideration, it appeared I could switch my internet package, end up with wi-fi at the house, and receive a better rate AND a batch of credits and gift cards. So far so good.

Until the gift cards came.

I had been eyeing an e-reader for some time, and had decided on a Nook for a variety of reasons, so off I went to my local B&N to obtain portable books, PDF's, and all kinds of stuff. (Honestly, with the added memory chip, I've got over 200 books, most LARGE ones and a stack of knitting patterns, plus some music on there and still have better than 95% memory left.) I named him Marvin, after the paranoid android from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy , since in my head I could hear him grumbling "Here I am, brain the size of a planet, and what does she ask me to do? Marvin, can you fetch me some Jane Austen? Marvin, are they handing out free cookies at the cafe this week?"

Small problem. Now I'm spending quality time with Marvin when I'm at home instead of internetting - it's just so darn easy when they give you a free book every Friday, a lot of the classics are available for free and even more are available in huge "Complete Works" compendiums for between a dollar or two.

There's still stuff going on, (potentially some exciting things). Hopefully now that I've caught up a bit on my reading I'll get a few more updates in. Jeanninehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00533944116751906660noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4110027014238120492.post-37689542985196257742011-02-17T18:46:00.001-05:002011-02-17T18:48:58.815-05:00Update on No UpdatesI have been working on things, and even have a few things to post, but for anyone who didn't hear, my little Elf passed away February 3rd. I went down to give everyone dinner and he just never woke up from his nap. I'm trying to take consolation that he went quietly and peacefully, but still...it just hasn't left me in a mind frame to do updates. Hopefully will manage some in a few days. Thanks to everyone who had offered condolences, they are appreciated.Jeanninehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00533944116751906660noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4110027014238120492.post-90980221246245705282011-01-23T15:31:00.004-05:002011-01-23T15:36:23.195-05:00One Down<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHoRG_8coI-AniORkHhTk1eMX_DTTxpmXNhAzA4ZMAFinJyU5ODhDdh-fxsv6CqAGHAuzDtsl-5Z4Tdd-CRY6JfWYI__dmHIHCgRN4s9HMrlK-4M2ZlG4FmvVm-0Q2fQ_2-p7dvwEWP4jF/s320/Picture12.20+042.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5565482417042637810" />
Tally for this week - one scarf done. It's an infinity scarf (big looped scarf you can wrap around a couple of times, if you haven't seen them). This makes 1 scarf down, 10 to go, 11 shawls to go and 15 stitching to go. No problem, right? (Delusional? Why, yes I am. It's still early in the year!)Jeanninehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00533944116751906660noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4110027014238120492.post-36610186418903132232011-01-16T12:51:00.001-05:002011-01-16T12:54:33.102-05:00Off to a Good Start<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGsO3zKEnTvJjpiUM4u293-Nd0rkZXnS5LL2K1AlUHgIgjGXWeLMxsVSLQdU0k6JEC0IKgCamaYoKo29yQoU3nyOE96dNk_kQtykKNDw5RA_YBY3x5p3NY2YNWy49tr9PL2E6m5xT7944U/s320/Picture12.20+039.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5562843211976632626" />
Well, 15 days and 15 cross stitch projects started. There's an assortment in there of linen samplers, regular aida cross stitch, stamped cross stitch and embellished cross stitch (that's the one where they basically print a picture on the cloth and you highlight it with stitches). Now let's see how this goes. I'm really REALLY good at starting, let's see how much I can get finished in 2011.

And just in case anyone had the fleeting thought I may have stopped there, I signed up for an 11 scarf challenge. OK, so not much of a challenge as I already had at least 11 scarves I wanted to knit up, or that were already in PIG status. Oh well, scarves are fast, right? (Now that I've tempted fate, watch for updates on just how bad a scarf can be!)Jeanninehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00533944116751906660noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4110027014238120492.post-55640975426027826012011-01-02T14:24:00.003-05:002011-01-02T14:38:12.054-05:00New Year - New InsanityThe impossible was accomplished in 2010 - I completed the 10 in 2010 shawl challenge, one of 399 out of thousands who started who succeeded. Abendwind, Wintersturm, Colonnade, Lady of the Forest, Citron, Ruffled Shawl, Kartoffelfeur, Traveling Woman, Wuestenhimmel, and Adamas all got done by end of the year.

Now, far be it from me to rest on my laurels (or leftover yarn, or patiently waiting stash projects, or...well, you get the idea). I immediately jumped into the 11 in 2011 (same idea, just add one shawl to the mix) AND as if that weren't enough insanity, signed up for the Winter Insanity Stitch Challenge (the site is in Finnish, so you'll need to run it through the translator of your choice). The object of this one? Start one stitching project every day for the first 15 days of the year, then try to finish them all by the end of the year.

I DO have some realization of my limitations, so I'm not actually expecting to finish this one during the year (especially as a lot of the things patiently waiting in my stitching stash are BIG projects), but I do know that once started, a project will get finished eventually. (5 - 10 years is still finished! Eventually!) I'm also taking this as an opportunity to expand my horizons a bit from the basic aida cloth and stamped cross stitch to Real Cross Stitch Samplers on Real Linen Fabric (A lovely 1854 Danish sampler reproduction was yesterday's start - with a special thanks to my friend Jackie for the hand-holding to get me started on Real Grown Up Stitching!)

I'll add pictures at some point, but right now have the printer hooked up, and I'm still on the back up computer that only has 1 port. I can have either printer, or camera, but not both at the same time. I may wait until I've got everything started for the 15 days, then post a mass picture so I don't have to do so much flailing and cable swapping (trust me, Me + Electronics = Ugly Situation Fast!)

Here's to a new year filled with new opportunities and growth for everyone (I'm NOT going to say challenges - everyone I know had a 2010 TOO full of "challenges" of the bad kind!) Now get out there and try something impossible! You just might do it by the end of the year!Jeanninehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00533944116751906660noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4110027014238120492.post-21590711428295189052010-12-27T19:06:00.003-05:002010-12-27T19:20:26.563-05:00Knitted Christmas<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh43b_r7LBeM5x63Rf6TAwvLCfFWipdS9VV33GtEwpjJT9ZP-pAO1gudQi82bEBDcMLSYHKjmNrMeTFHVJC2DvVrR82GJvC99GjajiFn4Xcf6Zx6pARuGpoipAg8Bq4FRMdzLQ7xWMJi8mN/s320/Picture12.20+028.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5555521032626321490" />

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhA9WyiYb6J8azLScAj7LmZJkjRfc22wD0j8_588HG-gZAqtyKG7cXDXxU60Npsv0XIaZ-581vPjbgCmeA0Jx5P2VWsSkrNk0qGKL321ArSdeyoTgRIQH6Uf1hI8gS2jFDXGJHWMCW42k5W/s320/Picture12.20+019.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5555521017094796946" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhndSKwiMdtZahZNnZYFyS6GVOeSwRjO1m_dEJSsbbimt8sSxOyEZ5LoaUy3XCoOSGVTwjtMZZ2-qjXy3dj1JFMuXTB0d2YUqFPjiOPJyhZ2WaijPV36qyMmzVzJVDx8vuDehxI8ZBiIPru/s320/Picture12.20+027.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5555521028441289778" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4Td7H2aFTxoAICV6PFLT3osik6QySRPuS_t5z0CQPdnvNLaNf6OqwhhJA0f4tHkGXQgOaWG0neSUWohzjVHYTRoIqZfryL0tUCj2V01p9AF7_E3PMFl9TEOczSb4bHHyTi8om9sRxSo2Y/s320/Picture12.20+013.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5555521012364952114" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZ5kxpC_jcMGdi0YEeTUVn1kwLHXx9S-KxnjodrtiB4A4j-4NBlDOAnZQxEawKWHliorXgyzmVtpG-Z_H_QP9TbxP-IybA3t0iaoUBm9IUKMGsv7JnffmosJ59-vKDlT6B5c6EgrCYvlN4/s320/Picture12.20+008.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5555521011592704082" />
Since the finances are tight due to the whole out of work thing, it was a knitted Christmas all around - on top of finishing the 10 in 10 challenge, and some ghost knitting. Even the ferrets are looking at me like I've gone round the bend. BUT everyone was happy with their gifts! (I got all but one pair of socks done, and those needed to be checked as I was warned about this particular designer running small halfway through the first sock!)

It sounds a bit like a knitters 12 days of Christmas - 6 fingerless gloves (three pair), 2 internet deities, 1 pair of slippers, 1 hat, and a pair of socks to finish. Oh and gifts that need to be mailed, which may or may not be finished yet.

What? Internet deities? Yes, that would be courtesy of my son. Flying Spaghetti Monster is fairly standard, but Pretazlcoatl is a new one he created "The saltiest deity I've ever made up" to be exact.

I'll try to get the 10 in 10 final tally up between now and the first of the year, as well as the "That's it, this time you've REALLY lost it!" challenges for 2011!Jeanninehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00533944116751906660noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4110027014238120492.post-21683777744267278902010-11-04T19:14:00.003-04:002010-11-04T19:24:27.100-04:00Award Winning Knitter!<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiuC7EHKBuaXfrGnWYnrKpIv-G1yjuY_jMfdG03Rz_b6_u0kT9-BFY1Oudje-1Um98kAFunF0fzpwbefM3yWNbq_F9k3eL3t5RjV2E9tMbNjI9mcZ7s9naW2UDbBx7_xDkgN7PWAsCSwxn/s320/150029_172904999388417_100000067540105_648680_930001_n.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5535837169619274818" />
Well, I got brave this year and decided to enter my knitting in the Jacksonville Fair. I figured after having yarn in Pluckyfluff's exhibit in Lillehammer earlier this year, which allowed me to call myself an "Internationally Exhibited Fiber Artist" I might as well go for "Award Winning" as well.

I didn't expect this!

I entered a total of 13 items, 12 of which got ribbons - 5 first place, 3 second place, 2 third place and 2 honorable mentions. The shawl in the picture is my Wintersturm, the first one I finished this year for the 10 in 2010 shawl challenge. Not only did it get a blue ribbon, it went on to get Best in Show for the knitting category!

I'm thinking it's something to do with our LYS. Everyone who entered from there got ribbons - and not just in knitting - we had winners in photography and jewelry making too! Have to love having a supportive, creative environment! (speaking of which, special thanks to Jennifer and her I-phone for photos when I went off and forgot my camera.) Now for everyone who didn't enter this year - step up for next year. Knitting, quilting, stitching, painting - you all know you're out there. Since being laid up/out of work due to chronic illness issues, I've been having problems with feeling a bit useless. I can't work, can't do a lot of the things I used to enjoy doing due to physical limitations, and some days can't even manage basic household cleaning and cooking.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbl4_Q42xzsVsU2ZCGkMmp8AXlncOMQ55_hfCmkXq7jKT19xDRif1ck4xpr_ubc-n5Xwk_mA-uQJyEsZYDpjIjjm-LkrB6edtSRsItpSQP2X3-SCyYEnu1OLdfnXOeLucg46y3JDjAykGz/s320/Picture7.12+064.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5529127831690951570" />Fortunately for me, the life of a sole owner LYS is hectic, so I've been helping out my LYS owner a bit by doing a few small items that are put on loan for display. She gets items up that she doesn't have time to do, I get to do something and feel productive, so it's a win-win all the way around. Three of the 10 in 10 shawls are up there, and most recently I've done the pictured scarf and bag.

Hey, it keeps me happy and off the street and out of bars, as they say!Jeanninehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00533944116751906660noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4110027014238120492.post-25755753677391966972010-10-10T14:43:00.004-04:002010-10-10T14:53:26.529-04:00Catching up<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGq_boRRbhTdRZZolkWcX9UKqas13PlESSa0ANSZRAdLXq8d-DMcijCkAktatqJsQW24XTuiR07iXn2T_w9-Vg_iFF17awVbXElykBzE_MbStlH4_7tSMn9377au8JC2DwtVp2aDC_CosB/s320/felted+bangles.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5526490240454332610" />
A while back I posted about the felted bangles that were a fairly successful experiment with felt club, so here they are (finally).

Still working on the 10 in 10 shawl challenge - I'm actually up to 8 done (only 7 photographed, but here are the ones I have up so far)

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9vUbL3kBb_FKiu3TV_qXWnYpvzC_VwNAL2SFZP02bwvvhvDejlV8YPWROZbVgVLA80N9FrNKXXNPfjDBwKRa4KUpO792LoXJQNOuQTOybxG5rn0tsf3LJC1Ecx1XVR7LcMJOXS8isnkOk/s320/DSC00466.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5526490986624986386" />Traveling Woman shawl (my version is the Traveling Artist) done in Art Walk sock yarn Le Pont Japonais a Giverny by Claude Monet.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQLrRqmWzY26EgpXi0BeZlEGaS6OM7iKytxLJjljEiJ35E__4xITT_YcuyKN0t1tixNw6hxhf5PZTwpA2AGxVEKh7yEZdnjpheZsDLWVIVg9soqU_0vfOf_GoSnl8tvGNvHZMPpqNspLfE/s320/Picture7.12+040.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5526491959703746130" />Kartoffelfeuer- another Windsbraut out of Zauberball sock yarn.

Lots more to add, but that's all I'm up to for one day. Angel had her first visit with Dr. Rossi today. She's been proclaimed healthy, except for a bit of anemia, a few ear mites and being terribly thin. Dr. Rossi agreed that this, along with the hair loss are the result of fleas, stress and malnutrition rather than any disease. All her organs are good, no internal parasites, swollen lymph nodes or other problems. She was sent home with some drops for her ears and an iron supplement to help boost her up faster.

The big surprise however - turns out that she is NOT a baby! Based on her teeth, Dr. Rossi estimates she's about 3! (He said she could possibly be a bit younger and just have some excessive wear due to her conditions, but still no younger than 2 or 2 1/2!) She only weighed in at 1 pound 7 ounces - and while she'll gain weight, it seems she is just an extremely petite little flower of ferret femininity!

I'm still willing to bet that once she's gained a bit more weight and energy she's going to give the boys what-for!Jeanninehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00533944116751906660noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4110027014238120492.post-90121943215633227792010-09-26T10:50:00.001-04:002010-09-26T11:02:38.044-04:00Do You Believe in Miracles?Since losing my little Finn Tuesday, I've been forcing myself to try to maintain some semblance of normalcy - going to knit night, going to the quilt show, etc. Saturday, after sleeping in a bit (quilt show did me in) I straggled up to the knit shop where the usual group was in and out. Nothing out of the ordinary unless you count that I'm sitting there feeling rather blah. Until Mary left.

Now there was nothing extraordinary about Mary's departure, she was going home, I think she said she had plans with her husband. A short while later, however, the shop phone rang. I wasn't paying much attention until Kathe was standing next to me saying "Here, I'll let you talk to her". Mary was on the phone. "I know it may be too soon, but I wanted to call you..." Her neighbor across the street had a stray ferret in their yard!

I rushed home, grabbed the crate, a baggie of ferret food and some treats and headed over. Mary led me across the street to where her neighbor was waiting. There, next to the bowl of cat food, was a thin, weak, dehydrated baby girl ferret! The poor thing had fleas, and had lost a good bit of the fur from her back, so she had been on her own for a while. From the way she shakes when she's first picked up, I suspect maybe she fled from a not-so-good home life.

She's been named Angel, and everyone seems to agree that somehow Finn had a paw in bringing us together. Right now Angel (and her remaining fleas which we're working on getting rid of!) is quarantined upstairs until she gets a bit stronger. Food is disappearing at a rapid rate, and she's already made tremendous progress - her eyes are brighter and she can make almost a full circuit of the bathroom without falling over.

Do you believe in miracles? I do.Jeanninehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00533944116751906660noreply@blogger.com3
